   FilmFair fun!

   FilmFair have given us a
seemingly endless parade of animated brilliance
over the years. The company's origins date back to the late 1960s, when
"The Herbs" first came out to play as part of the BBC's "Watch With Mother"
programming. Parsley and his pals were the springboard into a triumphant
two decades, because through the 1970s and early 1980s, FilmFair's name
became synonymous with those fabulous tea-time tv shows on BBC1,
broadcast just before the early  evening news. "The Adventures of Parsley",
"Paddington", "The Wombles" and "The Perishers" were classic series,
repeated ad-infintium and emblazoned on the telly memories of a generation.
But the company didn't rest on its laurels. We visited "Hatty Town" with them,
we wallowed in the simple pleasures of "Moschops" and "Portland Bill".
We daydreamed with "Huxley Pig" before we were transported to
the half-hour dimensions of "The Dreamstone" and beyond...

And now all these top series are coming to DVD, courtesy of Abbey Home
Media and their Tempo TV Classics range. The festival begins with "Paddington:
Please Look After This Bear", which hits stores on 6th March 2006, and is
followed by a slew of top titles from the company, plus a few friends, like
that big pink pachyderm "Nellie the Elephant". And many discs will feature
extra puzzles, games and info - so a new generation can learn all about
   these top toons too...

The Hound says...
"They came from Darkest Peru... from the overgrown delights of a Walled
Garden... from Wimbledon Common and Guillemot Rock, a kitchen dresser,
and even the Land of Nightmares... but they were FilmFair stars one and all.
And they had just as many human stars behind them too. Ivor Wood,
Graham Clutterbuck, Michael Bond, Keith Chatwin, Elisabeth Beresford,
Bernard Cribbins, Maurice Dodd, Rodney Peppe, Mike Jupp, Martin Gates,
David Wood, Martin Pullen and friends came together behind and
around the camera to bring us so much tea-time tv pleasure..."
