"Postman,
Postman Pat,
Can you guess what's in his bag?"
This splendid new series comes to us via Entertainment
Rights, who aquired
Ivor Wood's Woodland Animation rights a wee while
back. They brought in
Cosgrove Hall to spruce up Greendale and its inhabitants
and they've done
a quite marvellous job. It's amazing what you
can do with modern models
and a brush of CGI.
You see, Greendale's now bigger and busier. The
school has more children.
There's a whole new family at the old railway
station too. There are new modern
appliances in the homes and on the streets, and
over and around everyone
there's an abundance of changeable weather - enough
for all seasons, indeed.
Now, listen closely and you'll notice there's no narrator.
And if we look closer
still we'll notice the biggest change of all:
Pat and his friends now have
lip-synched mouths!
The series was ushered in with "Postman Pat
and the Greendale Rocket",
a 25minute special in which the old Greendale
Light Railway is renovated,
and a brand new family move to the station to
attend to its running
(see below). The film actually premiered on DVD
prior to its tv broadcast.
It was was released as a double-bill with a second
special "Postman Pat's
Magic Christmas" in November 2003. The BBC
subsequently broadcast
"Greendale Rocket" on September 6th 2004,
and from thereon the first
of the regular episodes aired daily, throughout the
week...
The Cosgrove Hall specials
Postman
Pat and the Greendale Rocket
(2003)
In which the local school children rediscover
the Greendale Rocket.
This special introduces us to the Bains family,
Ajay and Nisha Bains
and the children Meera and Nikhil who hail
from nearby Pencaster.
They subsequently become full-time Greendale residents...
Postman
Pat's Magic Christmas (2003)
A postman's lot is never easy, especially at Christmas,
when there are
so many packages and cards to deliver. Pat is
having trouble getting his
round finished in time for the village Christmas
party. But help is at hand
from a jolly bearded stranger...
Postman
Pat Clowns Around (2004)
Oh no, the circus was supposed to be coming
to town, but the performers
have been taken ill. That's the cue for the village
school kids to put on their
very own circus...
Postman
Pat and the Pirate Treasure (2004)
Avast! - Pat's cousin Matt Clifton has hopped over
from America.
Matt's a bit of a sailor and Pat and Julian sail
with him to a small island, on
a mission to track down the Greendale cup - a
trophy which Matt buried as
a young boy...
