   Riddle-Me Ray
    Riddle-me Ray
Ray loved riddles. In every strip he would try to work out
the answer to one. He'd get in a muddle with people and
things around him, and by some so-queer-it-only-happens
-in-comics twist of fate, he'd solve the bleedin' thing!

Ray was actually solving riddles suggested by readers, who
stood to get a £1 bounty if their riddle was picked. As a
consequence, those there riddles were hardly brain-busters:

"What do you call a camel with three humps?"
"What has teeth but doesn't bite?"
"Why is a dentist unhappy at his work?"

Still, it stopped him getting into mischief on street corners,
    or dabbling in petty crime...

Ray's weekly appearances ended when Shiver & Shake
merged with Whoopee!, but he later resurfaced in 1980
as a reprint in the pages of the Jackpot annual...
