    Great grizzly news      (06.04.11)

  spacerspacer

   Are you sitting uncomfortably?

Then we can begin to unspool 26 of the grizzliest tales you
ever heard in the form of that BAA-winning series "Grizzly Tales
For Gruesome Kids". Yes, this fiendishly-formatted fearfest is
returning from the grave with a sickly Seventh Series clutched
   in its rotting hands...

The new series is once more based upon the stories by Jamie
Rix, with Simon and Sara Bor and the team at Honeycomb
Animation bringing the beastliness to life. The title's been
neatly guillotined, so it's now known simply as "Grizzly Tales",
and there's a noxious new sub-title: "Cautionery Tales
   for Lovers of Squeam".

There's also a grim new introduction to get us in the mood.
We've moved from that sickly cinema "The Squeam Screen",
to a fresh haunt in "The Hot-Hell Darkness", a hotel in the
bowels of the earth that has a room (cell, even) for every
bad child in the world. This big bad boarding house is run
   by Uncle Grizzly's half-brother The Night-Night Porter.

As for the cautionery stories, well, with titles like "Sick to
  Death"
, "Hear no Weevil See no Weevil" and "
  The Apostrophic Expositor",
 it's safe to say they'll
fright and delight young viewers just like the originals.

Now, if you're feeling really brave, there's a fearfully informative
Grizzly Tales blog for you, which is stuffed full of background info
on the production and the books, and the folks behind them,
including photographs of the creative team when they were
   gruesome kids themselves - Yoiks!

Series Seven of "Grizzly Tales" starts airing on Nickelodeon UK
and Nicktoons UK in May. Tune in, if you dare!
