The Hand was - surprise - a ghostly floating hand who
would manipulate events to help those in need, or hinder
Bad Guys. He was a kind of Hand of Fate, in a way.
Well, we're presuming our handy friend was a "he"'
because it looked quite masculine, but the origin of
this disembodied spook was never divulged...

Even odder than a floating, ghostly hand was the notion
that this apparition could think of its own free will. In fact,
our Mr Hand would regularly inform us of its actions in
    think bubble form. Spooky, eh?

One thumb way-y-y up from The Hand!

The Hand drifted through all 79 issues of Shiver & Shake
He departing from the weekly comics when the title merged
    with Whoopee! in October 1974...
